ABOUT

Welcome to Lake Dunstan Trailhouse, a family-owned bed and breakfast and bike rental located in the historic village of Cromwell in the heart of Central Otago. We offer a range of queen, twin-share and family-sized rooms, as well as bike rental services. Wake up each morning to a delicious continental breakfast before setting out to discover the stunning landscapes and bike trails of the Central Otago region.

 

The Lake Dunstan Trailhouse is the perfect base to explore the Central Otago region and a centre point to many bike trails for the adventurous. We are also happy to provide tours by vehicle upon request. Enjoy the stunning landscapes and vibrant culture. We look forward to hosting you soon!

ROOMS

OUR ROOMS

We offer the choice of two luxury rooms—one with a queen bed and one with twin king single beds both with the added comfort of personal air-conditioning and private well-appointed en-suites.

 

These rooms are accessed through an external entrance which features facilities for tea/coffee making or perhaps preparing  afternoon drinks and platter to enjoy in the garden. As a guest service area it also houses a fridge/freezer and washing machine and drier available for your use.

 

A further two rooms are available within the house—one is a family room with a queen bed and single bed and one with a queen bed. These rooms share a bathroom and separate toilet. Guests in these rooms are also welcome to use the guest service area.

Early morning beverages are available in the guest service area.

We offer continental breakfasts in the house dining area. A cooked breakfast can  be provided by arrangement.

Bike Rentals & Transfers

 

Bike rentals, airport transfers & trail transfers available for your convenience.

Garden

 

Beautiful garden offering lounging areas, dining areas and BBQ facilities. House kitchen facilities are available for food preparation and service, if required.

 

Daily Housekeeping

 

Rooms are kept in immaculate condition for your comfort and during multiple night stays will be serviced daily upon request.

Free Wifi

 

Enjoy unlimited free Wifi from the privacy of your room.

Laundry

Facilities available to clean and refresh your clothing and cycling gear after scenic activities during your stay.

Scenic Bike Trails

 

Rent one of our Moustache E-Bikes....

Directly below our house is the beginning of the Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail which is the latest trail to join the "Great Cycle Rides of New Zealand"

Wine Tours

 

Cycle, walk or we can provide transport to nearby wineries- we can offer recommendations.

Alternatively, we can by arrangement provide a transported tour to wineries further afield.

Farmers and Crafts Market

 

Over the summer months the Cromwell Historical Precinct Farmers and Crafts Market operates across the road every Sunday morning.

Cromwell Heritage Precinct

 

For your entertainment it offers a beautiful lake vista and a variety of historical displays interspersed between hospitality and retail shops offering  tea and coffee, cocktails and tapas,wine and pizzas, art galleries, jewellery shops and specialty gift shops.

Horse Riding 

 

Enjoy the scenic views of Lake Dunstan on horseback.

This is available in the foothills and can be arranged upon request.

Motorsport

 

Cromwell is home to Highlands—Tony Quinn's motorsport park.

Apart from race meeting this facility offers a motorsport museum, a go-karts track, a great variety of drive opportunities and a cafe with beautiful views. It also features the the famous "Loos with a view" which is an experience not to be missed.

GUEST REVIEW

Perfect location for biking the Dunstan Trail, eating in the historic precinct and enjoying the Sunday Summer Markets. The rooms are fresh, modern and well appointed. Bev & Lou are wonderful hosts.
